The iban children

February 24, 2008

The Ibans are a branch of the Dayak peoples of Borneo. Ibans were renowned for practising headhunting and tribal/territorial expansion. A long time ago, being a very strong and successful warring tribe, the Ibans were a very feared tribe in Borneo.

3 years ago, I visited the longhouse of Iban in Sarawak. There was nothing there that suggested they were headhunters once. Infact, the longhouse is full of jolly children whom were friendly and always eager to pose for you whenever you have a camera pointing at their direction.

I am now compiling my sarawak photos. It’ll be featured in the gallery soon..
